location

goal

Given the increasing problem of cardiac and mental health conditions in Philadelphia, the Well City Challenge will be focused on fostering community solutions for mind and heart health.

description

The Well City Challenge is a social impact competition, organized by The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia (ELGP) in partnership with Accelerate Health Equity (AHE) and powered by Independence Blue Cross, that will engage and support everyday innovators with new creative ideas for addressing Philadelphia’s health and wellness challenges. This is the second iteration of the challenge, and the theme for this year’s challenge is Community Solutions for Heart & Mind Health.

The program solicits proposals from the community and supports their development through workshops, pitch competitions, mentorship, an accelerator, and over $100,000 in prizes, as well as access to seed investments. The advisors will also help competitors create compelling crowdfunding campaigns for their ideas to solicit external donations. To learn more, or apply for the challenge, click here.

impact

Winners will participate in an Impact Accelerator designed to help teams develop and execute rapid pilot projects, create full business plans that maximize impact and articulate paths to operational sustainability, and prepare pitches to funders for seed investment to scale their concepts. In addition to the impact goals of the different competitors in the Challenge, these monetary and institutional investments will help generate capacity building in Philadelphia communities that can have far-reaching impacts.
